Pumpkin Paradise in Yilan

Yilan County (宜蘭縣) is a place located in northern Taiwan. It takes around an hour to get there by bus. Yilan welcomes many tourists due to the stunning mountain scenery and famous attractions such as Guishan Island or Jiaoxi Hot springs. However, my school recently took me on a trip to some not very known places among the foreigners in Taiwan. Image ImageImage

Yilan has  a very interesting  wooden shoes museum, where you are taught how to walk and dance with this type of shoes. Although I must say it is not easy to walk on these shoes, learning how to dance with them was very fun. ImageImageImage

You also have the opportunity to test your creativity skills by printing your own design on a DIY wooden shoe keyring you can later take home with you.  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Due to Halloween, we were also taken to this beautiful green garden where pumpkins are grown. I was able to try a pumpkin shake, which I hadn’t tried before and it was delicious and refreshing. This place offers a variety of cute pumpkin halloween souvenirs as well.

These are hidden paradises in Yilan, still rich in tradition and interesting history. If you are a curious traveler or simply a fan of tradition I recommend you to visit these places.
